Jamie Davis, LPC
Jamie Davis is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing within our Amory and Columbus offices and bringing a focus to maternal mental health. She is delighted and honored to be serving the Amory and Columbus communities. Jamie began practicing in mental health in 2020, just after the COVID-19 pandemic began. She is devoted and determined to provide excellent mental health care to each individual and family she has the pleasure of meeting. Jamie also aims to educate the community on the various stigmas that surround addiction and perinatal mental health.
Jamie has always had a passion for serving people; however, she did not always know that she wanted to become a counselor. After enrolling in a counseling course she “took just for fun,” she found her calling. Jamie states, “I knew I wanted to have a career that benefited others, and I tried some of the other helping professions. Something always seemed to be missing. When I began my first counseling course, it was like all the pieces of the puzzle came together.”
Jamie graduated from the University of North Alabama with a master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020. Jamie spent the last five years working in two different addiction treatment facilities in Alabama. It was in April 2022 that she discovered her passion for working with Pregnant and Postpartum women. Jamie states, “Pregnancy and life Postpartum can be a beautiful thing, but it can also be a very difficult experience. No one really talks about the hard parts. Infant loss and infertility can be isolating and devastating.” Jamie aims to establish positive relationships with clients while providing a safe space to express themselves. She believes that active listening, empathy, and unconditional positive regard help to create an environment that promotes growth and healing. Jamie works with those experiencing grief, anxiety, and depression related to perinatal mental health, and individuals with a history of substance use. Jamie serves clients with a Rogerian approach, emphasizing autonomy and self-healing. She also recognizes the importance of collaboration with other professionals to ensure client needs are being fully met.
In her downtime, Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets (Vinny and Thumper). She looks forward to spending more time with her family, who were all very excited to have her back in the area after spending almost a decade in Florence, Alabama. Jamie and her husband attend the Anchor Church. They are looking forward to becoming more involved in the opportunities the Anchor Church has to serve the Verona community. Jamie also enjoys learning new hobbies, knitting, reading, traveling, and watching Netflix.
