Alison Harris, CFNP, is an OB/GYN nurse practitioner practicing in our Amory and Columbus offices. She joined P&S in 2008.
Alison comes from a family of public servants and healthcare providers. She initially planned to be a pediatrician and even worked toward being a lawyer before ultimately going to nursing school.
“I went back to my roots of taking care of people. I have not regretted that at all!”
After several years, she then went back to school and became an NP.
“While in school, I loved women’s health and OB. I wanted to be in an area that I could make an impact and teach. Best decision I’ve made.”
Alison loves taking care of people and teaching. “I love getting to know patients and hopefully developing lasting patient/provider relationships.” She has greatly enjoyed seeing her patients have babies that then grow up to have babies of their own.
“I spend a lot of time teaching, and I do a lot with preventive education relating to overall wellness for all ages.” Because of her background in family practice, she educates her patients on chronic medical conditions and provides anticipatory guidance for her adolescent and young adult populations.
Alison wants her patients to feel like they can talk to her about anything. “I try to treat patients with the same care and respect I would want.”
Her special interests are preventive health, adolescent wellness, and early OB care. She is also trained in Nexplanon and IUD insertion/removal, and she is BioTE certified.
When at not home with her husband and two children, Alison enjoys being active in her community of Caledonia. She is a sports booster for Caledonia schools and enjoys watching sports and boating. She is also active in the Junior Auxiliary of Amory.
“Alison is great! Thoroughly explains in detail everything I am there for-never a long wait-great personality and always answers any questions or concerns. I never feel rushed or unimportant . I would recommend her highly!!” – Pam S.
