Kam Otey, MD

Dr. Stephen “Kam” Otey, Sr., MD, is an OB/GYN practicing in our Amory and Columbus offices. He joined P&S in 1997.

Dr. Otey was a latecomer to medicine. He knew he wanted to pursue further education after college, but he considered law and business as well. He was eventually drawn to the human aspect of medicine.

“I want to be there for people at critical points in their lives, both heartbreak and joy.”

The active nature of OB/GYN attracted Dr. Otey early on. Delivering babies and performing surgeries energize him. He also enjoys the relationships he forms with his patients.

“I love being there for almost all of a woman’s life, from teenage years to senior adulthood. Or sometimes from their birth until the birth of their children!”

Dr. Otey likes the challenge of changing gynecological needs and concerns as women go through different stages of life. He wants his patients to feel like all their gynecological concerns have been addressed.

In addition to obstetrics, Dr. Otey is particularly interested in pelvic prolapse, infertility, and robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

When at home, he enjoys spending time with his family — his wife, Caroline, their three kids, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. In his free time, Dr. Otey can be found running, biking, and running some more (sometimes up to 50 miles). He also loves a good cup of coffee. Dr. Otey is active in his church, where he serves as a deacon and is often recruited by his wife to help in the nursery.
